A link, a file and a subscription are different

The three pieces of a calendar export
TermWhat it meansDoes it follow later changes?
iCal / .ics URLThe web address where an app requests calendar data.Only when an app fetches it again.
Downloaded .ics fileA saved copy of the response at one moment.No.
Calendar subscriptionAn app’s ongoing connection to the URL.Yes, subject to the source and receiving app’s refreshes.

“iCal” here refers to a calendar format, not a requirement to use an Apple product. Google Calendar and other compatible readers can use .ics feeds too. See the export guide for where to find your listing’s address.

Why does the address contain a code?

An export URL may include a query string such as ?t= followed by a private access value. Keep that part when copying the address. Removing it can leave a URL that no longer retrieves the calendar.

Treat the full URL as a bearer link: an app or person with it may be able to read the feed without signing in. Sending it to a calendar provider lets that provider retrieve the data. A private-looking address is not the same thing as an authenticated user permission.

Does an Airbnb feed contain guest information?

Do not assume a raw feed contains only anonymous dates. Calendar data can include event summaries, descriptions, identifiers or links, and a receiving app may hide some fields from its normal view. Review what a service receives before sharing the original feed beyond the people who need it.

Calbnb reads the feed and keeps sanitized date records. It does not store the original event descriptions, guest names or booking references. The cleaner view shows the property name you entered, booked and blocked dates, and your usual times. The source URL is encrypted for future refreshes and is not exposed in that view.

Can someone change Airbnb through the export link?

A calendar export is for reading data. It is not the same as a host login or an invitation with management permissions. Editing an imported copy in a different app does not edit the original Airbnb reservation.

Keep these Calbnb links separate
LinkPurpose
Airbnb export URLSource Calbnb reads to refresh your dates.
Calbnb host linkChange settings, replace sharing access or delete the calendar. Keep it for yourself.
Calbnb cleaner linkRead the schedule and optionally subscribe to cleaning days. Share only with intended recipients.

Why does an .ics event end on the checkout date?

The iCalendar standard treats an event’s end as exclusive. For an all-day stay starting June 8 with an end date of June 11, the occupied dates are June 8–10. June 11 is the departure date. This behavior comes from RFC 5545’s event definition.

That is why a cleaning schedule uses the end of an identified reservation. It should not infer a guest departure from the end of every unavailable period: an owner block is not necessarily a stay.

How do you stop sharing?

In Calbnb, use the host settings to replace the cleaner link or delete the calendar. Replacing the link invalidates the old browser link and its subscriptions. Deleting the calendar removes the stored data and stops refreshes. Previously downloaded copies cannot be recalled.

Those actions do not change an Airbnb export URL you shared separately. If the original feed was exposed, review the source’s current access options and any services using it. Keep access changes separate from deleting events in a calendar app.

Share the dates. Keep it simple.
